Being a glass designer, she investigated the manner in which glass behaves, changes and shifts according to certain circumstances such as temperature or shock treatments. Her work includes projects in New York and Hong Kong.

Like the shifting patterns of milk in water, the fixed form of the crystal seems to dissolve upon examination. The character of the material and the techniques employed ensure that each of Berning’s pieces is a unique variant of the prototype.
